Listening is a vital element of communication and it is very much different from hearing sense of human. A meaningful communication requires both a good listener and a speaker. However, the effect of a listening style may vary depending on the occasions and situations a listener is in. Sometimes, speaker exhibit ineffective style such as defensiveness, ambushing, pseudo-listening, stage hogging and selective listening in their communication tracks.

I am a good listener because I pay my whole attention to the speaker commentswho comes to me so they can be heard. Thus, I attend my speaker with my full concentration as they speak, overcoming distractions and even going so far as to forgive a speaker's poor communication skills. Simply by paying attention, I can build an unspoken rapport with my speaker.
Paraphrasing is another element essential in the good listening habits. I try to make sure in gathering input from the speaker or loosely summarize whatalready have said in order to feel them they have been listened. Paraphrasing also urges a speaker to clarify his comments as well as permitting him to know that these comments have been heard.
Understanding often involves emotion of a good listener. I consider a job well done if it allows the speaker to become slightly uninhibited during the communication process because if speakers are being criticized by a listener, they show inhibition while speaking in the conversation. By expressing empathy and understanding while listening requires flexibility, I encourage them to be candid while expressing their emotions. I involved myself in their conversation as I express I am in their shoes so they feel more candid as they speak.
I feel that speaker should have freedom to express themselves completely before attempting to interrupt for comments or questions regarding what they are saying. This again requires understanding and patience from a good listener. Interrupting a speaker is likely to be a interpreted as a sign of rudeness. According

Effective communication through leadership is an essential tool in creating vision in the workplace and involves organization, collaboration, breaking down barriers, and the ability to read non-verbal cues. Without effective communication, inadvertent misunderstandings can occur, leaving the workplace vulnerable to collapse. The leadership role in any organization is the key to effective communication throughout the company. Leaders who effectively communicate the vision and mission of their company are generally successful because they exercise collaboration with the employees as to what works and what does not work.

"No matter how brilliant and invaluable your idea, it is worthless unless you can share it with others. For this reason, effective communication is crucial at every level of an organization. However, the ability to communicate effectively does not come easily to many people, and it is a skill that requires practice." (Stennes, p.1)

We learn to communicate at a very young age. However, to effectively communicate complicated ideas, skills beyond simple conversation are required (Stennes p. 1). One key component that is necessary when communicating vision with others is organization. Organization of what you want to communicate is necessary because it provides your listener with tools needed to understand the concepts that are provided. The organization of the conversation allows the listener to decipher the important details rather than dealing with the nonsensical information that may be included.

Another key component when effectively communicating is collaboration. Collaboration is crucial in communication because it serves as a two-way process involving an exchange of ideas (Stennes p. 2). If a leader tries to take control of the conversation, the listener will most likely become offended, and therefore, will not be open to information, or vision, that is offered to them. The hallmark of effective communication is the coherent verbal projections of your ideas, so that your listener receives the message that you intend to send (Stennes p. 2).

Many things can interfere with communication. There may be language barriers, someone who feels some type of defensiveness, misreading one's body language, power struggles, self-fulfilling assumptions, perceptions of bias, interpersonal relationships, or cultural differences (The Importance of Effective Communication p. 3). In contrast, certain strengths are necessary in overcoming these barriers. A good leader should always listen openly to all ideas.
